UAE Digital Bank Zand Integrates USDC, Plans Dirham-Pegged Stablecoin
Zand Bank, a digital bank in the UAE, has integrated USDC (USD Coin) into its payment infrastructure, marking a significant step towards stablecoin-based financial services. This move is part of Zand's strategy to build on the growing trend of regulated stablecoins.
The integration of USDC enables customers to hold and transact in a major dollar-pegged stablecoin without leaving the bank's ecosystem. This development is particularly relevant for businesses engaged in international trade, remittances, and treasury operations, where stablecoins offer faster settlement and lower costs compared to traditional banking rails.
Zand also plans to introduce AEDZ, a stablecoin pegged to the UAE dirham, aiming to provide a stable, transparent digital representation of the national currency. The goal is to enable instant settlements within the UAE and across borders, reducing reliance on correspondent banking and increasing transparency in payment flows.
