UAE Migrates National Identity System to Avalanche Blockchain
The UAE's national digital identity platform, UAEPASS, is migrating its blockchain layer underneath the Digital Vault to Avalanche. The upgrade aims to improve scalability and verifiable document handling for the system that serves 12.5 million people and over 15,000 services.
UAEPASS is operated by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), the UAE's federal digital government authority. Users can access various services through the platform, including more than 350 government and private-sector entities that rely on it.
The Digital Vault handles verified documents, allowing users to request credentials, hold them, and share them with institutions for verification. The migration to Avalanche is expected to strengthen scalability and performance, supporting continued growth in digital identity and verifiable documents across the country.
