UAE Taps Avalanche Blockchain for National Digital Identity System
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has partnered with Ava Labs to integrate Avalanche blockchain technology into its national digital identity system, UAE PASS. This move marks a significant government use case for blockchain and will support the Digital Vault inside UAE PASS, which serves over 12.5 million people.
Avalanche's technology will power UAE PASS's Digital Vault, allowing users to securely store, request, and share verified government documents. The integration is designed to make document verification easier while reducing the need for manual checks.
The project will run on a dedicated Avalanche L1 (Level 1) blockchain, giving the government greater control over network access and configuration. This allows for faster and safer document verification.
Avalanche has called this 'one of the largest real-world, nation-state use cases for public blockchain infrastructure to date.'
