UCLA Researchers Turn to OnlyFans for Marmot Study Funding

Researchers at UCLA have launched an OnlyFans account called 'OnlyMarms' to fund their marmot research project, which has been ongoing since 1962. The idea came from Professor Daniel Blumstein, who noted that traditional funding had become harder to secure.

The account has generated around $4,000 so far, but the researchers need between $75,000 and $100,000 per year to support graduate students and fieldwork. This is a significant challenge, as federal grants once provided this funding.

The project has also attracted attention from the crypto community, with several OnlyMarms-inspired meme coins appearing on Solana's Pump.fun platform. While it's unclear who created these tokens or whether they're connected to the UCLA research team, Blumstein acknowledged that the researchers didn't create them themselves.
