UK Climbs Global Bitcoin Adoption Rankings Amid Seized Asset Controversy
The UK now ranks third in global Bitcoin adoption, according to the JAN3 Bitcoin Index's B20 ranking for 2025. The index combined policy advances with over 60,000 BTC ($63,296) held in law-enforcement custody as a factor in its decision.
The UK received a score of 6.44 and a BB rating, behind the United States at 7.42 and Bhutan at 6.64. The index considers national Bitcoin holdings, state mining, legal and tax treatment, strategic-reserve policy, pro-Bitcoin political leadership, and the extent to which Bitcoin can be used in the economy.
The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that authorities seized more than 60,000 BTC in a major investment fraud and money laundering case. The seizure was described as 'alleged criminal property,' with confiscation and civil proceedings determining its disposition.
