UK Couple Attacked in Crypto-Funded Home Invasion
A UK couple was attacked in their home by three men who forced them to transfer cryptocurrency. The attackers, who were aided by a fourth person directing them via video call, made off with a large sum of money and several high-value watches.
The incident occurred on December 13, 2025, in the West Midlands area of Birmingham. According to Crimestoppers, an independent charity that takes anonymous crime tips across the UK, the attackers were described as young men wearing face coverings and hoods, making it difficult to discern their features.
The husband was assaulted and suffered significant injuries, while his wife, who was pregnant with the couple's third child at the time, was threatened with a knife. The couple was coerced into transferring the cryptocurrency to a wallet controlled by the attackers.
Crimestoppers is offering up to £10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in connection with the attack. According to CertiK, home invasions have become the dominant form of crypto wrench attacks, rising to 20 cases in the first half of 2026 from a single publicly reported case a year earlier.
