UK Crypto Firms Face Fresh FCA Authorization Process Ahead of 2027 Regulation

Share

The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has released final guidance for crypto firms to reassess their permissions ahead of a new regulatory regime set to take effect in October 2027.

The FCA applications will open on September 30, giving companies over a year to prepare before the regime begins. However, those seeking transitional arrangements must apply by February 28, 2027.

The guidance covers various crypto activities, including stablecoin issuances, trading platforms, custody, transaction services, and staking arrangements. Companies will need to assess each service separately to determine the required permissions for their business model.
