UK Crypto Firms Must Apply for Authorization by February 28, 2027
The UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has opened applications for crypto firm authorization as part of its new regulatory framework. The deadline to apply is February 28, 2027, ahead of the regime's October 25, 2027 start date.
Firms seeking to continue operating in the UK must demonstrate that they meet the regulator's standards, which include consumer protection, customer asset safeguarding, market integrity, and financial resilience. The new framework expands the FCA's oversight beyond anti-money laundering and financial promotion rules.
Dominic Cashman, the FCA's director of authorization, said, 'The UK's new crypto regime will give consumers greater protections and firms a clear framework to operate in.'
