UK FCA Unveils Final Crypto Rules, Applications Open Now
The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has released its final guidance on cryptoasset regulation. The new policy statement, PS26/18, outlines which activities will require authorization under the upcoming regime.
Firms can now submit applications through the FCA's gateway, which opened on September 30. The full regime is set to start in October 2027.
The guidance clarifies that firms carrying out regulated crypto activities will need FCA authorization unless exempt or using transitional provisions.
David Geale, executive director of consumers, payments and competition at the FCA, said: 'We are building a crypto regime that firms, consumers and international partners can trust.'
