Share

HMRC has released its first official statistics on taxable cryptoasset gains in the UK. The data shows that 17,600 individuals made Capital Gains Tax-liable cryptoasset disposals in the 2024 to 2025 tax year, reporting £1.38 billion in taxable gains.

The highest-gain cohort was relatively small, with 240 people reporting more than £1 million in cryptoasset capital gains, accounting for £717 million of the total.

The figures also reveal a marked sex split among individuals declaring cryptoasset gains, with around 87% being male and around 13% female.
