UK Tokenization Pushes Forward with Permanent Infrastructure Plans
The UK is taking a significant step towards establishing permanent financial infrastructure for tokenized markets. The FCA and Bank of England have issued a call for input, which drew 123 submissions from industry players.
Firms such as HSBC, Euroclear, and LSEG are participating in the Digital Securities Sandbox to test tokenized securities across issuance, trading, and settlement under controlled limits.
The framework will also expand settlement assets eligible to be qualified as stablecoins, creating new ways for tokenized markets to function. This approach prioritizes efficiency in settling transactions, reducing risks associated with using tokens as collateral, and increasing market efficiency.
