Ukraine Climbs Global Crypto Adoption Index Amid Stablecoin Growth
Ukraine has risen to seventh place in the Global Crypto Adoption Index 2026, surpassing Thailand, South Africa, and Canada. This ranking is based on an updated methodology that takes into account four main components: transaction volumes with crypto services, internal P2P transactions, cross-border transfers, and crypto assets stored on the blockchain.
The global crypto economy shrunk by only 1.6% during the study period, from $9.5 trillion to $9.4 trillion. However, the total crypto market capitalization decreased by approximately 50%, or $2.1 trillion. Analysts attribute this relative stability to broader cryptocurrency usage, particularly stablecoins.
Tether's Vice President of Economics, Philip Gradwell, noted that the growth in retail activity and cross-border stablecoin transfers indicates real cryptocurrency use rather than speculation. The number of transfers up to $100 increased by 78.4%, while transactions from $100 to $1,000 grew by 58.6%. Cross-border stablecoin transfers rose by 77.5%, from $124.2 billion to $220.3 billion.
