Ukraine Delays Crypto Regulation Bill Amid Regulatory Disputes

Share

The Ukrainian parliament has delayed the adoption of a bill regulating virtual assets until autumn. The original target was August, but Member of Parliament Olha Vasylevska-Smahliuk noted that even this new timeframe may not be met due to disagreements among regulators and resistance from deputies who own crypto assets.

Vasylevska-Smahliuk emphasized the challenge in finding votes for the adoption of the law. The bill, which has been under development for four years, aims to legalize the virtual asset market in Ukraine.

The National Bank and the National Securities Commission have not come to an agreement on key aspects, while some deputies are hesitant due to their own holdings of crypto assets.
