Ukraine Resident Sentenced to 15 Years for Transmitting Military Data to Russia
A resident of Khmelnytskyi was sentenced to 15 years in prison for state treason after transmitting coordinates, photos, and data about military facilities to a Russian curator.
The 43-year-old man began communicating with the representative of Russia on Telegram in May 2025 and agreed to collect and transmit information that could be used against Ukraine.
He was assigned to film a military infrastructure facility and initially transmitted information with geolocation tags, later sending photographs of the facility. After the facility was struck by enemy missiles and drones in early September 2025, he photographed the aftermath and sent the images to the Russian FSB representative.
The court found that from May to September 2025, the convicted repeatedly photographed military facilities in Khmelnytskyi, marked them on Google Maps, and sent the obtained information to his curator. For completing certain tasks, he received rewards of $100 USD paid into a crypto wallet.
