Ukraine's Wasted Energy Could Fund Postwar Reconstruction with Bitcoin Mining
A report by the Bitcoin Policy Institute suggests that Ukraine could generate up to $1 billion for postwar reconstruction by using Bitcoin mining to monetize surplus nuclear energy. This approach would convert otherwise wasted electricity into revenue for rebuilding efforts.
Ukraine's nuclear plants produce constant power, but demand is low due to war damage, creating excess energy that Bitcoin miners could use flexibly. The plan faces challenges such as regulatory issues and security concerns, and no official partnerships or endorsements currently exist.
