Umia Secures $6.1 Million in Token Sale to Boost Crypto Launches
Umia, a platform designed to assist crypto projects with token launches and governance, has successfully raised $6.11 million through the sale of its native UMIA token. The seven-day auction, which concluded with a fully diluted valuation (FDV) of $18 million, sold 34.6% of the total token supply. According to Umia co-founder and CEO Francesco Mosterts, the auction was structured to offer liquidity at launch without any lockup periods, aiming to provide early backers with a significant stake.
The auction attracted substantial interest from both institutional and individual investors, with around 45% of the funds coming from institutional sources. Participants included notable firms like Galaxy Ventures, Digital Currency Group, Draper Associates, and RenGen, alongside nearly 700 individual bidders. Mosterts emphasized that all investors participated on equal terms, with no discounts or special board seats offered.
Umia differentiates itself by integrating a legal wrapper, decision markets, onchain auctions, and a supported onboarding process. The platform ensures that a project's intellectual property, operating team, and treasury are unified under a single legal structure linked to the token, which is intended to direct generated value back to the token holders. Umia generates revenue through a 0.5% fee on spot trades and a 1% fee on decision-market trades.
Looking ahead, Umia has selected three external projects for launch, with the first, Slop.cash, expected to debut later this quarter. The platform has received over 200 applications across various sectors, including AI infrastructure, decentralized finance, and fintech. Umia was incubated by Chainbound and aims to expand its team to support the growing number of applications.
