Umia Unveils First External Project: Non-Custodial Funding Rail Slop Cash
Umia, an onchain platform for launching and governing projects, has opened its doors to external initiatives. The first project to emerge from this new cohort is Slop Cash, a non-custodial funding rail for open-source software. Developed by Shaw Walters, creator of the elizaOS AI framework, and Drew Pierson, previously at Arweave and Ava Labs, Slop Cash rewards contributors for their work on GitHub.
Slop Cash sets itself apart from traditional token sales through its unique structure. It operates as a segregated portfolio within Umia's Launcher SPC, holding the project's code, domains, and social accounts under one legal wrapper. Auction proceeds go to a non-custodial treasury rather than a team wallet.
The platform uses decision markets for board-level decisions, including any spending beyond a fixed monthly allowance. This allows funders to reward open-source activity without paying for volume or agent-written code. Slop Cash scores accepted outcomes only, deterministically and in public.
