Unicoin Sues Uniswap over Trademark Infringement Dispute

Unicoin has filed a lawsuit against Uniswap Labs in New York federal court over trademark infringement. The complaint, which follows a demand letter sent by Uniswap's lawyers in June, seeks to declare that Unicoin's brand and logo do not infringe on Uniswap's trademarks.

The dispute centers around the use of the word 'UNICOIN' and the unicorn logo, which Unicoin claims it developed independently and has used since 2021. Unicoin argues that its brand is distinct from Uniswap's trademarks UNISWAP, UNI, and UNICHAIN.

Unicoin also claimed that 'uni' is too common for Uniswap to claim exclusive use of it, citing the Latin word for 'one' ('unus') and thousands of existing trademarks in the U.S. for that word.
