Uniswap Activity Surges as User Growth and Fees Drive Record Trading Volume
Uniswap's record-breaking streak shows no signs of slowing down as weekly swaps surged 86% to 40 million, surpassing its previous record set just one week earlier.
This rapid growth indicates increasing demand for Uniswap's infrastructure rather than an isolated burst of trading, with unique daily swappers reaching approximately 147,000 and broader participation accompanying the rising number of transactions.
Activity across various networks, including Ethereum (ETH), Base, Arbitrum (ARB), and newer deployments, suggests that Uniswap's usage is becoming less dependent on a single network, with V4's growing contribution indicating users are adopting newer infrastructure.
The large increase in trading volume has led to more trades and higher associated fees, with cumulative fees paid to the Uniswap protocol rising from approximately $17 million in early June to over $33 million by late August. However, fees increased more steadily than the 86% weekly explosion in swaps, indicating a significant development within the underlying activity.
Whale accumulation has also provided another source of support for UNI, with large holders intensifying their purchases in late May and continuing to move tokens off Binance during the recovery period, which saw UNI's price rally approximately 122% from $2.48 to $5.14.
