Uniswap Crypto Surges on SEC Tokenized Stock Framework
The Uniswap cryptocurrency (UNI) saw significant gains following the SEC's release of a new framework for tokenized stocks on September 17. The UNI price touched $8.83, with seven-day gains near 40%. This surge is attributed to Uniswap's existing permissioned-pool infrastructure for regulated assets, which aligns with the SEC's access model.
The SEC order granted temporary relief to qualifying Tokenized Securities Venues from the Exchange Act definition of an exchange. These venues can now bring buyers and sellers together via permissioned AMM liquidity pools under defined conditions. The exemptions expire five years after publication.
Uniswap Labs' Permissioned Pools for v4, launched on July 23, allow issuers to restrict swaps and liquidity provision to approved wallet addresses through on-chain allowlists. This structure closely matches the SEC framework's permissioned-access requirement.
