Uniswap Expands Beyond Trading with Launch of Earn
Uniswap has expanded its operations beyond trading by launching 'Earn', a new feature in partnership with Morpho, the second-largest decentralized lending protocol. This move marks Uniswap's entry into the lending space, allowing users to deposit assets such as USDC, USDT, and ether into curated vaults managed by Gauntlet.
The Earn feature enables users to lend their deposited assets through Morpho's lending market, generating interest that becomes returns for depositors. This process is done while maintaining ownership of the assets, allowing users to withdraw at any time.
According to Anthony Becche, a staff product manager at Uniswap, the launch of Earn is a natural progression for the platform, which was built to provide open and direct access to on-chain markets. He noted that Earn provides an easier way for users to put their assets to work without needing to separately manage concentrated liquidity positions.
In response to concerns raised by SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce regarding the potential applicability of federal securities laws to crypto vaults and lending strategies, a Uniswap spokesperson emphasized that they are confident in complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
