Uniswap Founder Claims SBF Paid Seven Figures for Disputed Domain

The Uniswap.com domain has resurfaced in controversy after founder Hayden Adams claimed Sam Bankman-Fried bought it for seven figures. The dispute dates back to a 2021 WIPO case, where Universal Navigation, which operates as Uniswap Labs, filed a complaint against the respondent, Registration Private and Future XXX.

The respondent had acquired the domain on April 7, 2021, and WIPO records show it was used in bad faith, redirecting visitors to a SushiSwap page. This created a risk of confusion with Uniswap Labs' UNISWAP trademark, leading to a transfer order in favor of Uniswap Labs.

Adams claims the legal team secured the domain due to its alleged malicious use and that Bankman-Fried had previously been involved with SushiSwap during its 2020 governance crisis. However, WIPO's decision focused on trademark rights and the domain's use, not establishing ownership or purchase by Bankman-Fried.
