Uniswap Founder Exposes SBF's $7M Domain Heist
Uniswap founder Hayden Adams has shared a story from the protocol's early years. He revealed that Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) paid seven figures for the Uniswap.com domain, which is worth at least $1 million.
The original owners of the domain had asked for this amount but Uniswap walked away from the deal. However, SBF decided to pay the price anyway and took control of the domain.
Adams did not reveal the motive behind SBF's actions but stated that he pointed the domain at a fork - a copycat exchange running on Uniswap's open-source code.
This move had significant consequences as it affected traders who would type in the .com version first. Whoever controlled the address decided where those visitors landed, and Adams said that his lawyers called this a malicious use of the domain.
