Uniswap Governance Activates Deflationary Fee Switch, Approves 100M Token Burn
Uniswap's governance has approved a significant shift in its protocol economics. The UNIfication proposal passed with overwhelming support, garnering over 125 million tokens in favor and just 742 against.
The initiative activates the long-awaited protocol fee switch that redirects trading fees to token burns. This change will see a portion of trading fees allocated to liquidity providers now going directly to the protocol for burning Uniswap tokens.
Uniswap Founder Hayden Adams believes this new model sets the stage for the next decade of growth, as he envisions the protocol becoming the primary place tokens are traded.
