Uniswap Labs has launched TJAR, an open-source fee conversion tool designed to help apps manage their token fee revenues. The platform allows teams to choose which token they receive as fee revenue, simplifying the process of converting various tokens into a preferred asset. Robinhood is the first integration partner, using TJAR to convert fees collected through the Uniswap API into USDC and USDG across supported chains.
TJAR works by letting apps deposit their fees into a Token Jar. Searchers then compete to convert these fees into the app's chosen token. The app sets the token and amount it wants to receive, and searchers pay through a contract called a Releaser to collect assets from the jar. Uniswap Labs noted that apps can easily set up a token jar in a single transaction and adjust settings as needed.
The tool was originally developed for Uniswap's protocol fees and handled over $15.3 million in conversions in September. Uniswap Labs emphasized that TJAR is now available for other apps to use, with more integration partners expected to join. The platform is live on seven chains, and developers can access the code, deployment addresses, and audit reports.
Uniswap DAO governance has the option to set a protocol fee for TJAR, though none is currently in place. The launch of TJAR marks a significant step in streamlining fee management for decentralized applications, offering a more efficient alternative to building custom infrastructure.
