Uniswap Price Surges as Regulatory Hopes Spark Tokenized Stocks Frenzy
Uniswap's price has skyrocketed nearly 50% in recent days, pushing it to just below $9. The rally comes as a regulatory development in the US raises the possibility of tokenized stocks being traded on automated market makers (AMMs).
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) outlined a potential route for compliant trading of tokenized securities using AMMs. Uniswap founder Hayden Adams connected this development to the protocol's Permissioned Pools feature, which is already available on Uniswap v4.
Adams pointed out that SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce indicated that genuinely decentralized systems operated by autonomous software may not need an exemption. This distinction matters, as the proposed pathway concerns permissioned activity and should not be interpreted as blanket approval for every Uniswap pool or tokenized stock trading.
