Uniswap Soars as SEC Paves Way for Tokenized Stock Trading
Uniswap's cryptocurrency price surged following the SEC's announcement of a five-year framework for permissioned tokenized stock trading. This development opens up potential opportunities for Uniswap to expand its infrastructure and technology in regulated markets.
The SEC's order permits permissioned automated market makers and liquidity pools to trade tokenized NMS stocks under specific conditions, but it does not directly approve or endorse Uniswap. However, Uniswap Labs' v4 Permissioned Pools use allowlists that match the SEC framework's access model, which could be beneficial for regulated assets such as tokenized stocks.
The UNI price reached $8.83 before dropping to $8.76, with a seven-day gain of around 40%. The SEC's framework carries several safeguards, including limits on eligible symbols and trading volume, and the requirement that venues deploy smart contracts on public, permissionless ledgers.
