Uniswap Surges to New Heights with Record-Breaking Swaps
Uniswap's record-breaking streak continues to impress as its user growth and higher fees strengthen the protocol's usage. The decentralized exchange (DEX) saw a massive surge in weekly swaps, reaching 40 million - an 86% increase from the previous week.
This milestone surpassed Uniswap's previous record set just one week earlier, indicating that the demand for the platform is on the rise rather than being an isolated burst of trading. The unique daily swappers also reached approximately 147,000, showing broader participation in the protocol.
Notably, V3 still processes most swaps, but V4's growing contribution suggests users are adopting newer infrastructure. This shift towards newer networks such as Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, and others indicates that Uniswap's usage is becoming less dependent on a single network.
The large increase in trading volume has led to higher fees, with cumulative fees paid to the Uniswap protocol rising from approximately $17 million in early June to over $33 million by late August. However, fees increased more steadily than the 86% weekly explosion in swaps, indicating that users are making fewer larger position trades.
Whale accumulation has also provided support for UNI's rally, with large holders withdrawing an average of 7,400 UNI daily from Binance in late May. This reduction in immediately available exchange supply contributed to the token's price recovery, which saw a 122% increase to $5.14.
Monthly averages are currently around 5,300 UNI per day, limiting possible sell-side pressure. The combination of sustained whale accumulation and strong protocol activity could support UNI's rally towards the $7.80 resistance.
