Uniswap v4 Hooks to Power OKX-ICE Tokenized Stock Venue
Uniswap founder Hayden Adams has revealed that the upcoming tokenized securities venue from OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) will leverage Uniswap v4 hooks. Adams described v4 hooks as an ideal fit for the market structure proposed for tokenized securities, suggesting the collaboration could attract new assets and users to the Uniswap protocol.
OKXICE, the joint venture between OKX and ICE, plans to offer blockchain-based versions of over 63 U.S.-listed stocks, including Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, and Tesla. The proposed venue will operate on XLayer, using Uniswap v4 automated market maker liquidity pools instead of a traditional order book. Access will be restricted to wallets holding a valid, non-transferable soulbound token (SBT) issued by OKXICE.
The Uniswap v4 hook will enforce these access restrictions, verifying wallet eligibility before each trade or liquidity action. The pools will use a constant-product automated market maker pricing formula, with tokenized stocks paired against USDC, USDG, or USDT. The proposal is still subject to the SEC’s temporary exemption and requires issuer notification before trading can begin.
This initiative follows a broader partnership between ICE and OKX, which includes equity investments and collaborations on traditional financial products. The proposed structure aims to represent each tokenized stock as a security entitlement to one underlying share, ensuring holders receive the same rights and privileges as traditional stockholders.
