Uniswap's Layer-2 Move Sparks Token Holder Backlash Over Lack of Consultation
Uniswap Labs' launch of its Layer-2 network, Unichain, has sparked outrage among token holders. The decentralized finance (DeFi) community is criticizing the lack of meaningful consultation with token holders before the deployment.
The move has exposed governance tensions within the ecosystem, with community members expressing frustration over being excluded from key decisions. Many delegates have voiced dissatisfaction with the process.
DeFi analyst Ignas highlighted a recent $165.5 million funding proposal approved by the Uniswap Foundation, which will support Unichain's development and incentivize liquidity migration. Critics argue that this arrangement primarily benefits Uniswap Labs and the Foundation rather than token holders.
Crypto analyst Duo Nine criticized Uniswap's approach to handling front-end fees, stating, 'They are better off buying UNI with that cash.' Nine also warned that creating an L2 seems like an unnecessary cost now.
