Uniswap's Price Dips Amid Sector Rotation and Profit Taking
Uniswap's price has dropped by around 9% over the past day, with some attributing it to profit taking and sector rotation rather than a new negative event. The asset had seen an impressive rally of 90-110% in the last month, leading some analysts to conclude that the pullback is simply a correction after an overextended run.
The decline comes as the total crypto market cap has slipped around 1%, and altcoin market cap is slightly weaker, down about 1.1%. This has led some traders to describe the move as part of a rotation into Bitcoin, with dominance sitting near 58.7%.
Traders have been taking profits at higher levels after seeing weakness at resistance, with some posting intraday trading setups around the 8.5-9.0 dollar range. The drop has also led to derivatives liquidations, with roughly 400,000 dollars of UNI long positions being liquidated in about an hour.
Regulatory news over the last day has focused on the failure of the CLARITY Act in the US Senate and new money laundering rules that emphasize enforcement in crypto markets. This has darkened the mood toward speculative parts of crypto, including DeFi, right as UNI was overextended.
