Uniswap's UNI Burn Rate Surpasses $250 Million Amid Robinhood Chain Frenzy

Uniswap's annualized UNI burn rate has surpassed $250 million, up from $200 million just days earlier. According to Uniswap founder Hayden Adams, this milestone marks a significant increase in decentralized exchange volume on the platform.

The mechanism behind the burn is UNIfication, a governance overhaul introduced by Adams and Uniswap Labs alongside the Uniswap Foundation in late 2025. This change routes a portion of protocol fees away from liquidity providers and into buying UNI, which is then sent to an address that cannot be spent, permanently reducing supply.

The recent acceleration in the burn rate can be attributed to the significant activity on Robinhood Chain, with $3 billion in daily decentralized exchange volume. This has resulted in a substantial increase in UNI being burned, with over 184,000 tokens worth around $1.15 million destroyed in a single day.

Adams noted that this burn rate is occurring without a bull market, implying that it could be even higher if the cryptocurrency market were to experience a genuine risk-on stretch.
