Upbit Delists ICON over Security Concerns
South Korea-based cryptocurrency exchange Upbit has announced its decision to delist the ICON (ICX) token from its platform, citing unresolved security concerns. This move comes after Upbit listed ICX as an investment caution asset due to potential risks of security incidents.
The exchange will cancel all open ICX/KRW orders and halt trading at 3:00 p.m. Korea Standard Time on October 19, 2026. Users holding ICX tokens will be able to withdraw their assets until November 18.
This decision is the latest in a series of token removals by Upbit, which has also delisted JASMY, Storj, and ThunderCore due to various concerns such as inadequate disclosures, business fundamentals, and transparency issues. In contrast, the yen stablecoin JPYC saw a significant price surge after its listing on Upbit, rising 197.5% to 35.7 won before falling back to around eight won.
