Uphold Rolls Out Industry-First Inheritance Solution for Cryptocurrency Holders
Uphold has launched Vault Inheritance, a new feature that allows users to pass on their cryptocurrency holdings to beneficiaries after they pass away. The service is available through Uphold's assisted self-custody wallet, Vault, and supports Bitcoin (BTC), XRP, and Hedera (HBAR).
The process of passing control to the beneficiary is secure and seamless, with the balance remaining safe until a verified claim after the customer has passed. The beneficiary does not need prior crypto knowledge or experience.
This new feature addresses a common issue in the cryptocurrency space: how to protect digital assets upon death and ensure they reach the intended beneficiary. Almost 4 million BTC (~$331 Billion) in crypto is believed to be stranded in wallets whose owners have passed or lost access to their private keys.
