Uphold Unveils Industry-First Inheritance Solution for BTC, XRP, and HBAR Holders
Uphold, a financial technology company, has launched Vault Inheritance, a new feature designed to solve the often-overlooked problem of passing on digital assets after death. This solution allows users to designate a beneficiary for their BTC, XRP, and HBAR holdings in Uphold's assisted self-custody option, Uphold Vault.
The inheritance process is straightforward: users invite a beneficiary directly from their Vault dashboard, who then receives instructions for setting up an Uphold account. Once the beneficiary makes a claim, Uphold's compliance support team verifies the legal documentation and transfers control of the assets into the beneficiary's Uphold wallet.
Uphold estimates that almost 4 million BTC (~$331 Billion) in crypto is stranded in wallets whose owners have passed or lost access to their private keys. With Vault Inheritance, users can ensure their crypto goes exactly where they intend it to, unlike traditional assets which can be easily transferred after death.
