Uptober Kicks Off with Crypto Market Surging
The crypto market has kicked off Uptober with a bang, as Bitcoin and Ethereum both saw significant price increases in September. According to data from TradingView, Bitcoin rose by about 6.5% last month and is currently trading at $85,140. This momentum carried over into October, with the leading cryptocurrency reaching close to $87,000.
Historical performance suggests that bitcoin ends October in the green in 10 out of 13 cases, which could be a positive sign for investors. However, Citi raised its 12-month forecast for Bitcoin from $82,000 to $113,000, citing expected inflows into ETFs and macroeconomic conditions.
Ethereum also had a strong September, gaining almost 9% and reaching its highest levels since January 2026. The asset's price has been boosted by renewed interest in spot Ethereum ETFs in the US, which attracted $689.88 million between September 21 and 25.
