US and China Establish AI Cooperation Framework Amid Growing Global Concerns

US and China have agreed to establish a Super Intelligence Dialogue as part of a diplomatic framework established during President Donald Trump's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on September 24. The dialogue will provide a formal channel for discussions about advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and related risks, including the potential misuse of AI systems.

Xi emphasized the importance of cooperation in AI research, stating that China and the US have 'even more reasons to cooperate than compete' in this area. He called for exchanges on the technology's risks and benefits, as well as measures to prevent its misuse and ensure continued human control over AI systems.

Separately, Alibaba CEO Eddie Wu announced plans to train a new AI model with 5 trillion to 10 trillion parameters, which will be supported by the company's Zhenwu V900 AI chip. This is part of Alibaba's strategy to operate more than 20 gigawatts of global data-center capacity by 2032.

The Super Intelligence Dialogue is scheduled for November 2026, marking a new channel for cooperation between the two countries in the field of AI research.
