US Bank's Proprietary Stablecoin Succeeds in Pilot Test on Stellar Network
US Bank has completed its first USBDC stablecoin transfer on the Stellar network. The bank moved money between its North American and European units on September 9, 2026, using a token it minted itself.
The USBDC token was used for an intercompany transfer between US Bank's own subsidiaries. No amount was disclosed, but the pilot tested the full lifecycle of a bank-issued token, including minting, redeeming, freezing, and clawing back if necessary.
US Bank's Digital Asset Platform, which links tokenized assets with its finance, risk, compliance, and operations systems, also validated during the test. The platform can speed up global cash management and money movement, according to US Bank's chairman and CEO, Gunjan Kedia.
