US Banks Shift to Production-Level Blockchain Infrastructure Amid Competitive Pressure
Major US banks are transitioning from experimental blockchain pilots to production-level infrastructure, according to Roy Ben-Hur in a Deloitte interview. This shift is driven by competitive pressure as digital asset markets continue to evolve.
Banks slow to adapt may lose ground in the rapidly transforming financial sector, warned Ben-Hur. Utility-focused cryptocurrencies like XRP, XLM, and HBAR have been building infrastructure for large-scale financial applications and are now gaining traction.
XRP's connection with tokenized securities is a key example, as CSD BR's integration with the XRP Ledger records over BRL 22 trillion in registered assets. This integration links the public XRP Ledger to BTG Pactual investment-fund shares, introducing an additional record and audit layer while leaving current regulated frameworks intact.
Stellar's institutional partnerships are also growing, including a Depository Trust Company integration that will connect its Tokenization Service to the Stellar public blockchain. This is expected to happen in the first half of 2027.
