US Bond Market Warning Signals Could Crush Bitcoin - or Lead to Its Rise

The US bond market is sending warning signs that could be bad news for Bitcoin in the short term. The Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 5.4% year-over-year, and Treasury yields are approaching 5%. This has led to a higher probability of a rate hike after the FOMC meeting on September 16.

Higher Treasury yields typically mean tighter financial conditions, which is bearish for Bitcoin. The asset's initial rally from under $65,000 to $82,000 stalled in recent weeks due to this increased pressure.

However, there may be a longer-term bullish narrative emerging. The Treasury Department has been buying up long-term bonds, which has led to lower yields and a weaker dollar. Additionally, President Trump's proposal for a $5,000 stimulus package could lead to even more government spending and potentially looser financial conditions.

Analysts at the Kobeissi Letter have described this situation as 'unprecedented' and believe it will favor asset owners such as Bitcoin, gold, and stocks. However, the path forward is uncertain and may be painful for Bitcoin in the short term if inflation continues to rise and the Fed responds with additional rate hikes.
