US Commerce Department Brings Economic Data Onchain via Chainlink Partnership
The US Commerce Department has partnered with Chainlink to broadcast core economic statistics on blockchain networks. This move allows decentralized applications programmatic access to official government data on gross domestic product, inflation, and private domestic demand.
The initiative covers three indicators produced by the Bureau of Economic Analysis: real GDP, the Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index, and Real Final Sales to Private Domestic Purchasers. These metrics are distributed through two separate feeds - one for the latest official level and another tracking annualized quarter-over-quarter percentage changes.
The data feeds are live across 10 blockchain ecosystems, including Ethereum and Avalanche. Chainlink representatives indicated that additional networks could be added if demand warrants expansion.
