US Crypto Industry Urges Policymakers to Continue 'Crypto Mom's' Pro-Crypto Policy Line
The US digital-asset industry is urging policymakers to continue the pro-crypto policy approach championed by departing SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, known as 'Crypto Mom' for her friendly stance towards digital assets.
Peirce spent eight years at the SEC pushing for clear rules rather than regulation by enforcement, shaping a regulatory framework for digital assets through initiatives such as a token safe harbor and the SEC's crypto task force.
Her successor is expected to continue her mission, with the Blockchain Association's Will Schwartz writing that the technology already exists to let consumers control their own data while still meeting legal obligations.
Schwartz highlights the need for a revised regulatory framework that encourages the adoption of privacy-enhancing technologies like blockchain, zero-knowledge proofs, and financial privacy.
