US Crypto Market Structure Takes Shape with CLARITY Act
The US is on the cusp of establishing a formal crypto market structure with the CLARITY Act, which aims to replace regulatory uncertainty with defined rules for digital assets and market participants. The legislation has cleared the House in July 2025 and the Senate Banking Committee in May 2026.
In contrast, India continues to manage crypto assets through strict compliance guardrails covering taxation, anti-money laundering (AML) and tax reporting, rather than a dedicated market regulator. Experts believe that clearer global rules could reduce platform risks and shape India's eventual framework.
Vikas M Sajdeva, CEO of Bid Delta India, highlighted the core value of the Act lies in removing operational ambiguity. The CLARITY Act actually reduces regulatory risk premium, he said, noting that it answers fundamental business questions regarding asset classification, jurisdiction, and intermediary obligations.
