US Crypto Ownership Hits New Lows After Last Year's Peak
A recent Gallup survey reveals that US cryptocurrency ownership has seen a decline from last year's peak. According to the report, 11% of US investors now say they own cryptocurrency, down from 17% in 2025. This drop is also reflected in overall adult ownership, which slipped to 9% from 14% a year earlier.
The survey found that younger men aged 18-49 remain the most likely investors to own cryptocurrency at 24%, though this number has decreased from 33% in 2025. Upper-income investors report ownership of 15%, compared with 7% for middle-income and 4% for lower-income investors.
Despite the decline, 63% of investors describe cryptocurrency as a very risky investment, with another 31% calling it somewhat risky. Even among current owners, 47% view the asset class as very risky.
