US Crypto Ownership Surpasses 67 Million, Defying Traditional Industry Profile
The stereotype of the typical crypto owner is evolving. According to the National Cryptocurrency Association's 2026 State of Crypto Holders Report, approximately 67 million US adults now hold cryptocurrency, a significant increase from 55 million in the previous year.
This growth doesn't align with the traditional profile of a crypto enthusiast, which often features a young tech-savvy individual. In reality, 21% of crypto holders are construction and manufacturing workers, while tech workers make up just 18%. Finance professionals hold only around 8% of all crypto assets.
The report also reveals that women now account for 42% of new crypto owners, a notable increase from the 34% share among earlier adopters. Moreover, nearly 28% of newcomers are over 55 years old, a demographic that the industry has struggled to reach in the past.
