US Crypto Regulation Bill Collapses in Senate Vote
A landmark US cryptocurrency bill has collapsed in the Senate after failing to secure the necessary votes. The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act was a major piece of legislation aimed at regulating the fast-growing crypto industry, but it ultimately fell short due to disagreements over ethics, banking, and how the industry should be regulated.
The bill's failure is significant because it would have provided much-needed clarity for companies operating in the space. However, concerns over President Donald Trump's extensive crypto interests were a major obstacle to a deal.
Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, the top Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee, was one of the key opponents of the bill. She stated that it posed 'massive risks to families, our national security, and our economy.'
