US House Financial Services Committee Considers Bipartisan Bitcoin Reserve Bill
A bipartisan bill to create a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve inside the Treasury Department has moved into the House Financial Services Committee, where lawmakers can amend the text before it advances further.
The American Reserve Modernization Act of 2026, introduced by Rep. Nick Begich of Alaska and co-led by Rep. Jared Golden of Maine, aims to convert an existing executive-branch practice into standing law and place seized digital assets under more uniform Treasury custody.
The bill would create a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve for Bitcoin obtained mainly through criminal and civil forfeiture, as well as a Digital Asset Stockpile for other tokens seized by federal agencies.
