US Markets Must Prepare for Mass Tokenization, Says CFTC Chair
CFTC Chair Michael Selig has called on US markets to prepare for 'mass tokenization,' round-the-clock trading, and increased use of blockchain technology.
Selig made his comments at the US Treasury Market Conference in New York, where he stated that technological changes could reshape financial markets over the next decade more than they have in several previous decades combined.
The CFTC is exploring broader stablecoin use and has sought feedback on 24/7 derivatives trading. The SEC recently approved a temporary exemption for tokenized US stocks, allowing permissioned onchain systems to trade these assets.
