US Sanctions Two Iranian Crypto Exchanges Over Iran Ties

Share

The United States has expanded its crackdown on Iranian cryptocurrency exchanges by imposing sanctions on two more platforms.

This move comes after the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) identified the two exchanges as being complicit in facilitating transactions related to Iran's government and military entities.

The sanctioned exchanges are BitPesa and Paya Exchange, which have allegedly processed transactions linked to Iranian individuals and organizations on the sanctions list.

The US has been tightening its grip on cryptocurrency exchanges that it believes are aiding Iranian financial institutions or facilitating illicit activities.
