Federal prosecutors in Massachusetts have filed a civil forfeiture action seeking the return of approximately $47,000 worth of USDT tied to an alleged Bitcoin theft. The case involves a beneficiary who controlled a Massachusetts family trust and had two separate wallets within one Coinbase account containing a combined 33.7 BTC.

The investigators found that all 33.7 BTC was transferred without the owners' knowledge or consent to multiple cryptocurrency wallets, with some of it converted into Monero (XMR) due to its privacy-focused features.

Authorities were able to track down the Tether in a Binance account held by Enrique Mora Morales through Spanish identification numbers. The account was used for six deposits between June 5 and June 15, 2023, totaling 11.203562 BTC.
